Welcome Namco America!!!
filed Friday, May 04, 2001 at 4:58:37 PM CST by Spyderman

At long last, the initial stages of the move are complete, and we'd like to welcome our sister company, Namco America to the pages of Namco Arcade. For those who do not know, Namco America is the arcade game manufacturing division of Namco here in the United States, and have brought us the hits like Soul Calibur, Tekken Tag Tournament, and Crisis Zone.

The Namco Arcade area, accessable via the home page, or by clicking "Namco America" on the menu bar, contains information on new games coming soon, such as Turret Tower, as well as game sales information, a technical support section soon to come, and other useful information.

This unveiling of the Namco America portion of the site has been long coming, and brings the two arcade arms of Namco together on the same pages! What you see on the new pages is only the beginning of things to come... we have many plans in store for the future! So head on over and check out their section!

Coke is It...
filed Monday, May 07, 2001 at 6:42:09 PM CST by Spyderman

Last week's poll asked what your favorite soft drink was from a list. Coke came in first with nearly 25% of the vote, while its number one competitor, Pepsi came in second at almost 20%. Trailing behind in third was Mountain Dew at 13%, while its latest competitor, Surge only got 2% of the vote. Still, Surge took almost as much of the vote as 7-Up which isn't bad for a new-comer.

This week's poll asks you to choose your favorite candy bar, so don't hesitate... let us know!!!

Coke and Surge are trademarks or registered trademarks of Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Mountain Dew are trademarks or registered trademarks of Pepsico, and everything else is a trademark or registered trademark of its respective company. This poll was not conducted for marketing purposes, but rather as a fun question to see what the site viewers enjoy. Absolutely no bottling companies nor their employees were harmed in the manufacture of this poll.

Reese's to the Top
filed Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at 11:57:11 AM CST by Spyderman

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups came out on top of last week's poll with about 23% of the vote. It must be true... there must be no wrong way to eat a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Right behind it at about 21% came the combined team of Snickers and Snickers Cruncher, with the twin layers of caramel and cookie delight known as Twix coming in third at 13%. Poor Milky Way seems to have more popularity as a galaxy than as a candy bar, making up 4.69%... which is the same amount of people who voted that they wouldn't consider any of the listed candy bars as their favorite.

This week's poll asks you about your console game playing habits. Do you play the PlayStation 2, or are you still hooked on the old Super Nintendo? Let us know in this week's poll, and we'll see you back here next week for the results!

Each of the individual candy bars are trademarks, registered trademarks, and/or copyright of their respective companies. Nintendo, Super Nintendo, N64 and Gameboy are trademarks or registered trademarks of Nintendo of America. PlayStation is a registered trademark of Sony Computer Entertainment of America. Dreamcast is a registered trademark of Sega Enterprises. Were you as scared as I was about the "twin layers of caramel?" That was pretty scary. No candy bars were eaten as a result of this survey... that we're aware of anyway.

Tekken 4... It's What You've Been Waiting For!!!
filed Thursday, May 24, 2001 at 4:20:31 PM CST by Spyderman

You fought them all. You beat them all. You think you have no equal. You're wrong...

Debuting at E3, a Tekken 4 video was shown, confirming indeed that the installment of the Tekken series was on its way. But while it answered that single question, the video left many more questions unanswered. Who was that strange blonde guy who could very well have been lifted from the pages of another story? What's with the guy with the glowing red eye? And what will gameplay be like?

Well today, we here at Namco Arcade can answer some of those questions. While we certainly won't spoil the treat of what gameplay will be like, we have confirmed the names of the characters who were featured in the promo video (stills featured to the right). While some of them will come as no shock, the rest remains to be seen.

Steve Fox (formerly known as Dean Earwicker), King, Marshall Law, Ling Xiaoyu, Hwoarang, Paul, and Kazuya Mishima have all been confirmed for Tekken 4. Will there be more? Is this all we have to offer? Why won't we people at Namco let you know?????

Well, as they say, patience is a virtue... Besides, you don't want us to ruin all of the surprises, now do you? Keep your eyes open here at Namco Arcade though, for I guarantee... this is not the end of the coverage of Tekken 4.

The fight of your life... has just begun!!!

Updated Friday, June 8, 2001 to reflect Dean Earwicker's new name of Steve Fox.

And They Said PS2s Were Hard To Get
filed Friday, May 25, 2001 at 10:10:51 AM CST by Spyderman

Last week's poll asked you which game system you played regularly. It's hardly a surprise (unless you thought it was hard to get one) that the Sony's PlayStation 2 came out on the top of the list with around 32% of the vote. Meanwhile, the Nintendo 64 was just slightly ahead of the Dreamcast which was just slightly ahead of the original PlayStation, all of which taking just over 15% of the vote each.

This week's poll flashes back over the PacMan series of arcade games and asks you which one was your favorit. Was it the classic PacMan or did you enjoy the scrolling mazes of Jr. PacMan. Perhaps you prefered the ghost jumping in Pacmania. Whichever you liked the best, feel free to join in on this week's poll!
