NAMCO's Mission Remains Unchanged
Half a century has passed since the founding of our business in the pursuit of “play”.
The view of humanity expressed by the Dutch historian, Johan Huizinga, “to play is human” (homo ludens), is one that we at NAMCO have increasingly come to hold as a conviction. As we enter the 21st century, the “Era of Spirituality”, the market has reached a new stage of maturity. The IT revolution is accelerating, not only the formation but expansion of the consumer and people oriented market.
As the inner orientations of people move from “knowledge” to “emotion” and on to “spirituality”, the type of fundamental services people expect moves from “The Fourth Industry (Intellectual Service)“ to the “Fifth Industry (Emotional Service)” and on to the “Sixth Industry (Spiritual Service)” as people seek more human, more spiritual direction of services. Based on our philosophical belief that higher added values are attained as we go further up the stream of industrialization, we have come to believe that the spiritual service industry, responding to the will of the people and contributing to their spiritual satisfaction, must be the highest level of the service industry and is the true nature of the Sixth Industry business. The advances of IT industry have brought further globalization which in turn has provided people with more opportunities to enjoy life. Entertainment contents such as movies and games have become universal language which crosses linguistic barriers, bringing people of the world closer together through sharing of emotions and excitements.
“Knowledge”, “Emotion” and “Spirituality” definitely provide a new market and create further possibilities of industrial growth. In this exciting age, NAMCO will pursue “homo ludens” as our ultimate goal and will continue to meet the challenges of producing a more rewarding human life.
